Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Elaine Hamilton Mohr Bronson who passed away on Aug. 27 at the age of 102. Elaine was a beautiful woman and she leaves . . .
an incredible legacy. Her cheery demeanour, her wealth of knowledge of local history and her love for her family will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.
On Aug. 31, Kenny and Jenna (Rainey) Fleck welcomed their first child. They had a baby girl named Georgia Kelsey and she is already adored by her Nana Patti Davis. She arrived a little early but both the new mom and baby are doing well. Best wishes to the whole family, baby Georgia is beautiful.
It was with great sadness that we learned of Barbara (Thomas) Meredith’s passing on Sept. 1, after a courageous battle with cancer. Barb was so well loved in our community and her loss will be felt deeply. Our condolences to Stuart, Cory, Travis and Kyle and all of her family and friends as they grieve.
Congratulations to Brandon and Meghan (Morris) MacKechnie on the safe arrival of their baby girl on Sept. 1. They named her Reese June and her proud grand-parents are Darlene Morris and Lyle Fraser, Lynn Leach and Dale MacKechnie. She is a great-grandchild for Priscilla and Steve McKnight and Mona and Laurie MacKechnie. Congratulations to all.

I hope everyone had a great time at the Shawville Fair over the Labour Day long weekend. The fair kicked off Thursday evening with a huge crowd out to watch the truck and tractor pull. Congratulations to Terry Provost as he won his class with his tractor The Grasshopper. This was the first year I’ve ever entered anything for judging in the handicraft exhibits and I was so excited to see red ribbons on all five of the crocheted items I submitted. What a fun experience. My niece Danica stayed with me for the weekend and we had a great time in the midway, watching some of the shows (The Keepers were a favourite) and enjoying many treats. The weather was perfect and we had a fabulous time. Hats off to the many organizers and volunteers who make the Shawville Fair such a special event in our area. It was, once again an amazing weekend.
