As part of an ongoing series, we are publishing one recipe every week from Pontiac County Recipes, a small book that is home to a collection of kitchen secrets from across the region, published by Pontiac Printshop in 1968.
This week, with Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, we bring you a recipe that could serve to use up that leftover cranberry sauce you’re not too sure what to do with (for those opposed to just eating it out of the container).
I’m not sure subbing sweet cranberry sauce for coarsely chopped cranberries will work, but it might produce a worthwhile variation on this recipe from 1968.
You could also, if you were feeling prudent, reduce the amount of sugar called for to make space for the sweetness of the sauce.
As always, if you recognize a recipe from either your grandparents’ kitchen, or from your own, please write to us. We would love to hear about how these recipes have lived on.
