Dear Editor,

I have been following the controversy around the Bio Park project slated for Litchfield. I was shocked to read that this project has been going on for ten years. At the MRC meeting on March 17, it was pointed out that for the past eight years the consultant has been paid . . .

$768,498.00 to work on this project and that it is not completed. According to Mayor Sunstrum there is one study not quite complete and three more to come. To top it off there is no guarantee that Renmatix will even come here.

Hats off to the mayors who have taken a stand and said no more money for consultants. I stand with you as I am sure you will find many others do.

No one is against the project and if Renmatix is that interested then it is time for them to step up and come on board.

As far as the mayors who feel they have to keep on because of the amount of money already spent, stop and think. Where is this money coming from? This money is coming from the taxpayers, be it through municipal, provincial or federal taxes. That is you and me, no matter what envelope it comes out of, it is out of our pockets.

Let me tell you if this was a private company, no way would the owner/owners put up with this. If the consultant didn’t produce within a couple of years, he would be gone.

To top it all off, Mayor Armstrong has asked to have it on the agenda for the April meeting. Why? It has already been defeated three times.

It is time to move on.

Helen Routliffe, a concerned citizen
