The parking lot of the Voyageur Restaurant in Bryson was packed with vintage cars and motorcycles last Wednesday evening for the final cruise night of the summer. Around 25 classic vehicles were on display, emblazoned with names like Studebaker, Grand Torino and many more.
Lucy Kingsbury has been organizing the classic car show at the Shawville Fair for several years but this is her first year organizing a weekly cruise night during the summer. She was thrilled with the response she’s gotten from the community.
“The season has been super. We started off with probably ten to a dozen cars and as you see tonight we’re up to about 25,” she said.
She added that her event had been largely unscathed by the sub-optimal weather that has plagued the region this summer.
“We only had two rainouts,” she said. “For it being the summer of rain, I just lucked out.”
Kingsbury said that she would definitely be continuing the events next summer. To celebrate the last cruise night of the year there was cake for participants as well as prizes and a 50/50 draw.
In a show of generosity, Kingsbury presented the proceeds from the cruise night’s weekly 50/50 draws, totalling $500, to representatives from local women’s shelter L’EntourElle.
“We decided to spread the wealth around,” she said.
