On Saturday, the Chapeau Farmers’ Market was host to a fall fun fair put on by community organization West Pontiac Connects.
President Gene O’Brien explained that the group hosts activities for youth in the area through regional health authority CISSSO’s Réseau d’éclaireurs program. She said that they brought back the fan-favourite potato launch from last year.
“We did it during the school day so all the kids came from the school and participated in the potato launch,” she said. “We did it at the ball field. A lot of the kids that participated last year wanted to come back and participate.”
In addition to launching potatoes into a chain-link fence, youngsters had a chance to try their hand at a host of other games to compete for prizes.
O’Brien, who’s also an exhibitor at the Chapeau Farmers’ Market, said that they decided to host it at the market building because it would make a “good fall activity.”
