Hundreds of people came out to the Lions Club Park in Bryson on Saturday for the third annual Community Day.
There was a diverse range of activities with games of 3-pitch going on throughout the day, live music, a chilli cook-off and even a firetruck for the children to play on.

Organizer Pierre Graveline said the day was organized to raise funds for the Bryson Revitalization Committee.
“We have a committee of about six people. We all put our heart and soul into it,” he said, adding that this year’s event was in memory of Ruth Racine, the original organizer of Community Day, who passed away earlier in the year.
“The big thing was the ball game today,” he said. We had a good turnout, a lot of people come in from out of town. These people used to play here 30 years ago and they all come back.”
Out of the six entries in the chilli cookoff, the Bryson R.A’s creation proved to be superior. Inside the R.A. Hall, Perry Kluke had a display on the history of Bryson, with many photos of the village’s early history.
Music during the day was provided by local band Country Express.
“They’re from the Island,” Graveline explained. “They did an excellent job. It was good country music.”
As darkness fell, the crowd was treated to a fireworks display donated by a local family.
