A Monday morning collision on Highway 148 involving three vehicles sent four people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
SQ spokesperson Marc Tessier said police from the MRC Pontiac detachment responded to a call about the collision at 8 a.m. near Campbell Road in Bristol.
“According to preliminary information, two vehicles were stopped in the western direction because a heavy vehicle was attempting to back into a driveway,” he wrote in an email translated from French.
“The third vehicle could have possibly been blinded by the sun and may not have seen that the vehicles were stopped, and hit one vehicle, which then hit the other stopped vehicle.”
Tessier confirmed that five people were involved in the collision, four of whom were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Bristol Fire Department captain Alex Mahon was leaving the scene by about 9:30 a.m., after being called to respond at 8:15 a.m..
“By the time we got on scene, all patients were out of the vehicle and they were already being assessed by the paramedics,” Mahon said.
Traffic was blocked in both directions on Highway 148 for about an hour while emergency responders attended the scene. A police investigation is in progress.
