Dear Editor,

As a writer in Pontiac I would like to throw a big thank you out to two organizations in our area. To the Pontiac Agricultural Society – Shawville Fair I want to say thank you for allowing room for a writing competition in the Homecraft/Fine Arts building at the fair. This is really the only space for local writers to showcase their product. The opportunity is greatly appreciated.

For the second year the Western Quebec Literacy Council is sponsoring a Best In Show award as part of this writing competition. The prize is $200. This generosity helps elevate and motivate the competition.

The WQLC is a big part of the success of what we are trying to achieve. We could not do what we have done without their support.

Last year’s effort showcased some amazing local writing talent that was a wonderful surprise. I look forward to seeing what our local writers bring out to the fair this year.
