The Municipality of Waltham held a by-election over the weekend, electing Brendan Adam as the new councillor for Seat 4.

The polls, which were open on Sunday with advance polling on Thursday, saw 111 voters, representing 39 per cent of registered voters in the municipality.

Adam received 68 votes, while his only opponent, Chantal Fortin, received 43.

The councillor who previously occupied the seat, Jordan Evans, resigned in mid-April due to personal reasons.

As per Élections Québec, the municipality had to hold a by-election within four months of the seat being vacated.

Adam will be sworn in before Waltham’s next council meeting on Sept. 3, and will sit in the meeting as an active member of council.

The team of councillors now consists of Brenda Landry, Leonard Godin, Ramona Marion, Brendan Adam, Elwood Allard and Tyler Rochon.

THE EQUITY reached out to Adam several times to find out more about his background and what he hopes to bring to the job, but he was not available for an interview before the time of publication.
