Congratulations to Tammy Cheslock and Travis Meredith, as they were married on Fri.,Aug. 14. The happy couple were surrounded by a close circle of family and friends as they exchanged vows. Wishing Tammy and Travis all the best as they begin this new chapter together as husband and wife.
The gang at Mountainview Turf enjoyed an afternoon of relaxation and fun on Friday, celebrating a very busy and successful season thus far. Billy T was on site to cook up a delicious steak barbeque, while games were played and fantastic prizes were won by several well-deserving employees. It was a great afternoon for all to kick back and take a breather.
This past weekend, the local minor ball playoff tournament was held in Shawville, and there were teams competing from Quyon in all three age levels. My mom and I went up to watch my nephew Noah playing, and we saw many folks up there enjoying the weekend of ball games. Hats off to the organizers, coaches, volunteers, and of course all of the kids for showing up to compete. I hear that teams from Campbell’s Bay were the big winners of all age divisions. Cheers to them, and to all of the teams for another great season.
Congratulations to Grace Côté and Hunter Milford, as they recently got engaged. Their families and friends are so happy and excited for them. Wishing you both all the best as you begin to plan for your big day.
Birthday wishes are going out to Wayne Hobbs on Aug. 19, and to Abby Côté and Kayla Duquette on the 21st. Happy birthday to Garry Trudeau and Sarah Kavanagh, both on the 23rd, and to Lynn Leach on the 25th. Blessings to all who are celebrating special occasions this week.
It is hard to believe that the summer is starting to wind down already, and back-to-school and Shawville Fair time is in the near future. As we look ahead to September, be sure to mark Sept. 12 on your calendars, as the Quyon Community Association will be hosting Community Day once again. They have a full slate of amazing music planned for the day, including Lorne Brady and friends, Barry Teevens and friends, Cal Cummings, the Saggy Bottom Boys, Larry Chevrier and Arnold Trudeau, Jessica Pearson & the East Wind, Valley Mountain, and Chicken Fried. They will be bringing back the ever-popular “Wall of Wonderful”, games and activities in the park, and a delicious dinner provided by the Quyon Lions Club. It promises to be yet another fantastic event, and we are so looking forward to enjoying the festivities.
