It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lana Leigh Leonard (nee Proulx) on Friday, July 17, 2026 in Gatineau, Quebec at the age of 62. Born in Ottawa in 1963, Lana was raised in the close-knit communities of New Edinburgh, Ottawa and Clarendon 4th Line in Shawville, Quebec.
Blessed with striking deep blue eyes, she captured the heart of one Morris Wilfred Joseph Leonard; the two were devoted partners and soulmates, sharing 41 years of marriage since wedding in 1985. Together, they built a life. They shared a mutual love for motorcycling, attending Rolling Stones concerts, camping in Prince Edward Island and spending summers in Sand Bay, Quebec.
Artistically gifted from a young age, Lana channeled her vibrant creativity into numerous successful endeavors. With Morris working by her side, she owned and operated Parkside Florists for many years, providing beautiful arrangements for major local events, including Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill. Later in life, she embraced a tranquil country lifestyle. This peaceful setting allowed her creative impulses to flourish through crafting and cooking, eventually building a loyal following of customers far and wide who clamored for her famous homemade jams and jellies.
Lana was a true do-er: strong-willed, tough and fiercely independent, yet deeply sentimental and full of compassion for those less fortunate. Staying true to her Proulx and Thompson heritage, she possessed a wicked sense of humor and a salty sharp wit that would make her Pontiac ancestors proud.
She was predeceased by her parents; James Earl Proulx and Doris Jean Thompson and her elder brother Kelvin Neil Proulx. Lana leaves behind an unforgettable presence and will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Morris; her sister Camelia (David, Declan); her brother Desmond (Anita, Tyanna, Camelia, Maxwell, Samantha, Atlas) and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graveside service will be held in Norway Bay United Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Norway Bay, Quebec on Monday, August 3rd at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Lana’s Life at 2:30 p.m. at Hursty’s Bar & Grill, 368 Main Street, Shawville, Quebec.
