Waltham Social Notes

Spring and eventually summer weather is slowly dawning on the Pontiac. With warming weather, comes the renewed threat of forest fires. In the past few years, Canada has been experiencing more severe forest fires. Consequently, local fire departments have been upping their abilities to respond to forest fires that are near populated areas. As part of this effort, the Waltham Fire Department and Pontiac West Fire Department are conducting joint training sessions that focus on forest fire protection operations. On May 6, combined training sessions were held, focusing on the deployment and operation of portable fire pumps, and the deployment of forestry fire hoses. Fire chiefs Michelle Vanasse and Glynn Fleury, organized this training and, as in the past, joint training will continue to be an important component for enhancing firefighting and rescue services.

I sure hope that every Mom enjoyed Mother’s Day weekend. On Saturday, morning, Rhonda, Bella and I took in the pop-up craft sale in Shawville. We bought a few items and browsed through the shops and then enjoyed a tasty lunch at the Little Red Wagon Winery.

Mike, Mikaela and Ben came up Saturday afternoon and Mike made us some gyros for dinner. They were delicious. We treated ourselves to a tasty brunch on Sunday morning. Needless to say, Rhonda and I were royally spoiled.

Happy birthday and love is wished to our dear Mark, who is celebrating his birthday on May 15. May the coming year be filled with blessings of health, happiness, love,  peace and joy.

Birthday wishes and love is wished to my brother-in-law Jim Qenneville, who is celebrating his birthday on May 16. We hope that you enjoy your special day Jim.
