Happy New Year to all. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas season. My holiday was filled with wonderful time . . .

spent with family and I felt truly blessed. It was a memorable Christmas, and I trust that all of you also enjoyed a fabulous holiday with family and friends.

Leading up to Christmas there were many festive events held in our community. Christmas concerts were held at both Onslow School and Ste-Marie’s School, and I hear that both were terrific. There was also a Christmas Carol sing-along at the Quyon Library with many children coming out to sing with Rolly Bernier and they also got to visit with Santa Claus and received many treats. The Friday evening before Christmas, the Pontiac Community Players brought their fantastic live radio play adaptation of Little Women to Quyon United Church and there was a great crowd out to enjoy it. So much fun leading up to the big day.

New Year’s Eve was a night of celebration, as the Quyon Legion hosted their annual party to ring in the new year. The band Third Bass entertained the crowd and everyone had a great time welcoming 2020.

There was also a stag and doe party at the new community centre in Quyon in honour of Ryan Racine and Michelle Hobbs. The theme was Roaring 20s, and many dressed up to ring in the new year while celebrating the happy couple. My family celebrated at my house as we toasted my sister’s birthday and enjoyed Chinese food, board games, and watching the ball drop on TV. What a great night it was.

The holidays often bring many big announcements and I heard of several engagements over the holiday season. Congratulations to Kristen Woolsey and Matt Curley, to Stephanie Provost and her fiancé Brent and also to Dannah Draper and Brandon Nugent. Wishing you all the best as you plan for your big days!

Best wishes are going out to Chad Lapierre and Karine Thibodeau as they welcomed a baby girl on Dec. 22. Her name is Yasmine Josephine and she is the first grandchild for Mitch and Marlene Lapierre of Quyon. Congratulations to the whole family.

Also welcoming a baby just in time for Christmas was Samantha (Davis) and Sam Rodrigue as their baby girl arrived on Dec. 23. They named her Eleanor “Ellie” Elaine and she is a little sister for Zachary. Best wishes to the family as they welcome their little bundle of pink.

Sympathy is extended to the family of John Mulligan, as he passed away on Dec. 28 at the age of 88. We are also thinking of Natalie and Dan Turner and their family as Natalie’s mother, Olive Monette, passed away on Dec. 30. The community is holding them in their thoughts and prayers as they grieve.

Belated birthday wishes are going out to Eric Provost and Priscilla Kluke-Brownlee, both on Jan. 2, to Sherri-Lynn Foran on Jan. 3, to Gracie Côté on Jan. 4, to Kelsey Stanley on Jan. 5 and to Kyle Stanley on Jan. 6.

Happy 60th birthday to Ian MacKechnie, celebrating on Jan. 7. Ian’s family surprised him with a party at the curling rink in Shawville last Saturday in honour of his milestone birthday.

Blessings to all who are celebrating this week.
