Our condolences to the Ranger and Tallon families on the passing on Sept. 22 of their sister/step-sister . . .

Elaine Ranger Richardson of New Brunswick. She is survived by her husband George of 51 years, her two children Dale and Lynne and her precious grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Hilaire and Clara and stepmother Mary Helen.

Also our deepest sympathies go out to Maggie and the Béchamp family on the passing of Alphire (Anchie) on Oct. 3. His funeral was held at St. Alphonsus Church in Chapeau, Que. on Oct. 7.

Birthday greetings and best wishes go out to Brent Hynes on Oct. 8, Kelsey McDonald Vaillancourt and Judy Darcy on Oct. 10 and Nancy Vellenga on Oct. 12.

Our friend and bus driver, Paddy Kilbride of Ireland, arrived in Toronto last Thursday to spend a few weeks in Sheenboro. This was a retirement gift from his family. His buddy Don O’Neil was there to pick him up but Ron and Nancy Vellenga, who connected with Paddy in Ireland, were also at the airport to greet him. He was quite surprised to see Nancy there waving a welcome to Sheen sign.

After our 2002 trip to Ireland, Paddy and the late Lornie Sullivan kept in touch. Paddy made his first trip to Sheen in 2006 and returned to celebrate Lornie’s birthday in 2007. Most of the original gang have made repeat visits back to Ireland not only to explore the beautiful country but to visit with our famous bus driver. A dinner at Northfork in Nichabau, Que. and a luncheon at St. Brigid’s in Ottawa, Ont. have been planned to celebrate his retirement Canadian style.
