Halloween has come and gone for another year. I had a fun evening at my mom’s handing out treats to all of the little spooks and ghouls. The costumes were fantastic, and we had a great time visiting with all of our trick-or-treaters.
On Oct. 30, the Quyon Library hosted a Halloween party for the children in our community and I hear it was a big success. Special thanks to Glenda Nitschke and her helpers for their dedication to creating fun events for the kids in our town.
On Saturday, St. Mary’s CWL hosted a Christmas Tea at the church. We enjoyed delicious soup, biscuits and sweets and had a great chat with everyone who was out. They had also been selling tickets on an amazing basket overflowing with goodies which was won by Stacey Kearns.

The Remembrance Day Parade and Cenotaph Service was held on Sunday in Quyon. Cal Cummings led the service, Wendy Desabrais sang O Canada, prayers were offered from Father Christian Kukla and Éric Hébert-Daly, and many wreaths were laid on behalf of local organizations, families and in memory of loved ones.
The Highland Mist Pipe Band was also there to lead the parade, along with current members of the armed forces, veterans and members of the Quyon Legion. It was a touching service and it was nice to see so many out, young and old, to honour those who have served our country and fought for our freedom. A light lunch was served afterwards at the legion.
Deepest sympathy is extended to Ian and Sarah (McKenny) Dagenais and their family as Ian’s grandmother, Doris Telford, passed away on Nov. 1.
Meagan and Shawn Schwartz want to congratulate their three Ninjas, Ollie, Annie and Fletch for competing in the Douvris Martial Arts In-House Tournament on Nov. 2. Way to go, guys.
Birthday wishes are going out to Vicky Leach on Nov. 12 and to Bill Hamilton on Nov. 13.
I hope everyone has their calendar marked for this coming Saturday as the Onslow Home and School Committee will be holding their annual Christmas Craft and Bake Sale at the school. It’s a great chance to get some Christmas shopping done. I hear Santa will be there too.
