We’ve been busy this summer preparing a brand-new version of TheEquity.ca for you to enjoy. Our new website includes exciting features like full print editions of “The Way We Were,” the ability to submit your own events and photos for publication, and a mobile app for iOS and Android that alerts you to breaking news. We’ve also introduced a new free subscription tier, allowing you to read a few articles per month at no charge, helping everyone in our community stay informed.
Below, we’ll outline all of the changes, and how it impacts you as a subscriber or a casual reader of TheEquity.ca.
The Equity Online

Website
We’ve completely redesigned our website to display more content in a more readable format. This includes a fully responsive design that works across all screen resolutions, including smartphones.
We’ve also expanded content such as “Photo of the Week” and “The Way We Were,” allowing you to explore every page of The Equity since our beginnings in 1883.

Mobile App
With our new responsive website, we’ve launched a mobile app for both Apple iOS users and Android users. The application loads the mobile version of TheEquity.ca with a banner that allows you to access features for the app – including photo submissions directly from your phone!
Even if you don’t have an account of subscription with us, you can still access one of the most important new features we’re introducing – “push” notifications. The Equity‘s app will now alert you to breaking news happening within our community in real time!
The App will be launching this upcoming Labour Day Long Weekend.

Newsletters
If you’ve already been a subscriber, you know the anticipation of waiting for that Tuesday afternoon email letting you know that the week’s edition of The Equity was now available for download! You’ll be happy to know we’re doubling that anticipation with a new bi-weekly schedule!
The first email each week will include a list of the recent headline news published in The Equity. The second will be later in the week and include a curated list of content designed for weekend reading.
Our newsletters will be relaunching later this fall!
Your Account
If you have already registered an account with us, either through a subscription or through the purchase of one daily edition, your account has migrated to the new website. You can manage your subscription and view your previous transactions (including a downloadable PDF receipt) through your account page.
Please Note: You will need to reset your password to access the content on our new website
To maintain the security of your account, passwords have not been migrated to our new website. You should have received an email with a link to reset your password in mid-August. Please check your spam folder, as these types of emails are often flagged due to phishing concerns. Rest assured, we prioritize your account’s security, and it’s always a good practice to change your password periodically.
If you did not receive the email, you can request a new password by clicking “I forgot my password.” If you are experiencing difficulty accessing your account, please email us at support@theequity.ca or call us at 819-647-2204.
Your Subscription
We have also made some adjustments to our subscription plan.
- Our home delivery subscriptions have all been merged into one, regardless of where you live across Canada. If you are looking to have The Equity delivered to you outside of Canada, please contact us.
- We no longer offer a “one day” subscription, but have replaced it with two other low-priced options:
- A free plan that gives you access to up to a limited number of news article per month, all content under “Opinion” and “Columns”, as well as functionality like Event and Photo submissions.
- A monthly digital-only subscription for those who are afraid of commitment, or only want to access for a limited time. This plan is great for part-time residents of the Pontiac.
- Annual subscription plans have increased in price. It has been several years since we last adjusted our prices, and due to inflation and cost increases we have been forced to make a change. For those of you on automated renewals, you will renew at our new prices.
