It sure feels like winter is here to stay. After the snowfall on Friday, everything looked so pretty. I’m a snow lover so I’m happy and can’t wait to get out my snowshoes. I know not everyone shares my feelings on the snow though. I hope everyone kept warm and stayed safe on the roads.
The Quyon Pastoral Charge has been selling tickets for their Harvest Draw fundraiser this fall and the draw was held on Sunday at Quyon United following the church service. First prize was a handmade afghan throw made by Mary Ellen Young and it was won by Debbie Waters of Kemptville, Ont. The second prize was a harvest basket of goodies filled by the members of the congregation, including a 25 lb. turkey generously donated by Laura Stewart. The lucky winner was Donna Provost of Quyon. The support for this fundraiser by the community was greatly appreciated.
This week, we have birthday wishes going out to Dakota Hudson on Nov. 21, to Holly Hamilton on Nov. 23, to Shannon Johnston-McCann on Nov. 24, to Bob Young on Nov. 25, and to Karen Stanley on Nov. 27. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
The Christmas season is almost upon us and the calendar is starting to fill up with festive events in our area. Thanks to the Quyon Lions and Lionettes, our town will soon be decked out with Christmas lights as they anticipate they will be up in early December. The Lionettes provide the lights, while the Lions look after maintaining and installing them. They will be holding the annual Santa Claus parade on Dec. 8 at noon so be sure to mark down that date. We are fortunate to have our local service groups to provide activities like this for us during the holiday season.
The Quyon Legion will be busy in the coming weeks as they have quite a few events coming up as well. They will be hosting a poker tournament on Dec. 1 and they are also having a turkey dinner with all the trimmings on Dec. 2.
