G.A. Howard, prominent Shawville citizen dies after short illness: George Alfred Howard, widely known Shawville business and sportsman, and twice a Conservative party candidate for the Quebec Legislative Assembly, died on Tuesday afternoon of last week in Pontiac Community Hospital after a short illness.
He was in his 79th year. Mr. Howard was mayor of Shawville for a number of terms and for years was a commissioner on the school board.
