The Way We Were:

Mansfield Sears outlet expands: For the first time ever in Pontiac, shoppers can go to a Sears store and leave with the product (choices limited) they purchase. For years, shoppers could phone or mail in their catalogue orders, then wait patiently for Canada Post to deliver the order, or go to a catalogue order desk, place their order, then pick it up when it arrived. Now, the Sears outlet in Mansfield offers both catalogue and floor purchases. As usual, customers can order anything from the catalogue, while the in-store product line consists mainly of household appliances, garden tractors and snowblowers and some electronic goods, such as televisions and stereos.

Paws Are Us has “nothing to hide”: The owners of Paws Are Us Kennels say they have “nothing to hide” despite accusations made by customers and animal rights activists in the Ottawa Citizen recently. Two purchasers accused the dog breeding business of selling them diseased puppies, one with parovirus and the other with ringworm. Nicole Labombard, who runs the business with her family, denied responsibility, saying they always let the customers know if something is wrong with a puppy before they sell it.
