Local News: The largest baseball crowd of the season, estimated at 1,200, turned out last Sunday at Campbell’s Bay to see Vinton take the opening game from Campbell’s Bay in the Pontiac Senior League. Vinton took the first game in the best of three series by a score of 3 to 1. The game, which went ten innings, was all Campbell’s Bay’s who led Vinton by 1-0 until the opening of the ninth inning, when Vinton scored a run and followed this in the top of the 10th inning with two more. The Campbell’s Bay run was by Martin on Bowie’s hit. Donnelly scored two for Vinton and O’Brien one for the same team.
Maryland Girl Takes Vows In St. Andrew’s at Bristol: Wearing a white satin dress, with Peter Pan collar, Jean Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stewart, of Maryland, became the bride on September 2 of William Hooker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hooker, of Ormstown, Que. The wedding took place in St. Andrew’s United Church, Bristol, with Rev. Mr. Williams, of Ormstown, officiating.
The bride’s gown was lace trimmed with long sleeves ending in points, a full skirt, ending in a baby train. She wore a Juliet cap and three-quarter length veil, caught to the cap with lily of the valley. She carried a cascade bouquet of red and white gladioli. The bridesmaid, Miss Claire Stewart, of Renfrew, Ont., wore a mauve lace dress, with full nylon skirt and carried an arm bouquet of yellow gladioli.
The flower girl was Miss Janet Fulford wearing a yellow organdy, floor-length dress.
