The Way We Were:

Historical Society still hoping for museum here: The Pontiac Historical Society is still interested in the establishment of a local history museum in Shawville. They own the old railway station here but have been instructed by the CPR to have it removed from its present location at the north end of town.

On Aug. 24, the building was offered by the PHS to the Pontiac Agricultural Society with the intention of having it permanently located on the fair grounds. As soon as the offer has been accepted by P.A.S. No. 1, steps will be taken to move the old station.

Judo comes to Quyon: A Jiu Jitsu and physical fitness program is available to residents of Quyon and district through membership in the newly organized Ninja Club.

The Club, founded by Chuck McColgan, himself a holder of a Black Belt in this art, is located in a building on the corner of John and Clarendon Streets, which has been extensively remodeled and furnished for this purpose.

In addition to the regular courses in Jiu Jitsu, the physical fitness room equipped with exercising aids will be open to members all day and evenings as well.

Everyone is welcome to join and a large number already have, including many on a family basis.
