The Way We Were:

Do You Wish to Vote?: If you wish to vote in this election be certain that your name is registered and look about it at once, as Saturday, 10th, is the LAST DAY. This applies to women as well as men. Practically every woman in Pontiac is entitled to vote at this election.

Registrars have been appointed by the Returning Officer in each polling sub-division to record the names of applicants. In Shawville E. T. Hodgins for No. 1 poll, and T. A. Draper for No. 2, are the official registrars.

The appointees for the rest of the county are unknown to THE EQUITY, therefore, we advise those interested to find out for themselves and don’t delay. This is a matter in which everyone should take a personal interest. Some one member of each family should see that the rest, who are qualified, are on the voters’ list. Do it today.

Local news: The big race meet at the Exhibition grounds on Friday afternoon, came off most successfully, if a collection of fast horses, bumper attendance and fair weather can be reckoned on as the main factors in accomplishing that end. The Shawville Driving Club were fortunate in having all three, and especially should the members of the Club congratulate each other on the favorable turn the weather took about 10 o’clock in the morning, when the prospect seemed anything but encouraging.
