Local news: Mr. Jas. Wilson who has been confined in jail at Bryson for some time for violating the Game Law, was last week liberated by the Government. He immediately took his departure. His offence was killing deer during close season.
While returning on Sunday from a visit in North Clarendon Dr. McNaughton had an experience rather too serious to be interesting. When in front of Mrs. R. Hodgins’, on the 11th line, a dog dashed out at the rig, starting the horse. The occurrence took the Doctor by surprise, and before he could get control of the horse she had thrown herself and the buggy into the ditch, shattering the shafts and breaking the harness badly. The Doctor considered himself lucky to escape with a badly bruised knee, while his horse will be laid up for a day or two at least. The rig and harness are meanwhile in the repair shop. The dog is said to be an old offender, and an effort will be made to have it removed.
The Methodist congregation at North Clarendon have torn down their old church preparatory to building a new one, which they expect will be ready for use at Christmas.
