Local News: Capable of producing 2,500 quarts daily, the new pasteurizing plant at present under construction in Shawville, is expected to do away with many of the milk problems of Pontiac and district consumers. At present, the raw milk of the area is transported to Renfrew for pasteurization and bottling, then trucked back to Pontiac; a practice involving considerable delay, especially in winter. The plant will be called the Pontiac Dairy and is located at the western end of Shawville. Owners are Messrs. Clifton Dale, Kenneth Morrison and Ebert Richardson, all of Shawville.
The Gatineau Power Company announced recently that the Rocher Fendu Dam on the Ottawa River at Calumet Island has been completed, a new unit of 27,000 horsepower has been installed at the Bryson plant.
The Shawville Lions Club came into being Monday night as Harwood Argue was elected its first president. The new service club came into being through the sponsorship of the Pontiac Lions Club at Bryson.
