The Way We Were:

Local News: Farmers of this district who have been complaining of a lack of moisture in the soil and who were predicting a shortage of water during the coming winter welcomed the continuous rainfall of Saturday last.

Charles Imison, who went west with the harvesters’ excursion, returned from Wainwright, Alta. on Sunday morning by C.N.R.

Charles reports there is great activity around Wainwright in oil well drilling and that preparations are now being made for the erection of a refinery.

Canada expects to get a return of thirty per cent of the loans she advanced to some of the Allies during the Great War by the end of the year.

On Friday at Elmside, Bristol, a large number of people met together for the opening of the new Intermediate School under the auspices of the Elmside Women’s Institute.
