St Joseph’s Manor residents entertain visiting seniors with gala musical event: There was an entertainment at St. Joseph’s Manor on Sunday, when the senior citizens of Chapeau came to play some old time music.
Four fine fiddlers, Jack Poirier from Chapeau; Dennis Poirier from Chalk River and formerly of Chapeau; Victor Malon from Chapeau and Godfrey Brunt, a resident at the manor. Also participating were three guitar players and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Malone at the piano.
When the music started you could hear the tapping of dear old feet and many saying, “I saw the day when I could dance to this myself”.
All seemed to enjoy the afternoon and the residents were very grateful for the entertainment. All left with good wishes and smiles saying “we will come back to St. Joseph’s Manor again before too long”.
Wyman Institute bakes cookies for Ade Hospital: The ladies of the Wyman W.I. met at the home of Mrs. Robert Johnson of Renfrew for the November meeting.
Mrs. Muriel Kelly, in the absence of Mrs. Duff, president, opened the meeting with the Ode and the Collect.
Thirteen members and two visitors answer the roll call “cookies for the Ade Hospital”.
A donation to the Beechgrove Rockathon was approved, with donations going to the Cystic Fibrosis Fund.
Pennies for friendship and donation to tea room fund were taken.
The Citizenship convener, Mrs. MacKechnie gave a report on and congratulated the students who had won prizes at the graduation exercises at Pontiac High School.
A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Johnson assisted by Mrs. MacIntyre.
