Local News: There was an earthquake Friday evening at 8:35 which lasted about 5 seconds. Contrary to the statement in Monday’s Ottawa Journal, quite a number of people of Shawville and vicinity observed the earthquake, explosion or whatever it was on Friday evening last.
Sunday gave this section the first taste of real winter weather following a snowfall of about 3 inches. A stiff nor’wester prevailed in the evening and during the night the mercury dropped to 28 degrees below freezing point.
