Local News: Recently, over twenty directors of Pontiac Agricultural Society No. 1 met in the society hall to arrange general business of the society and especially concerning Shawville Fair in September.

Mr. Ed Edmonds, pastor of the United Church in Bristol, has with him a distinguished visitor in the person of his brother, Albert Edmonds, trainer in fancy skating during the winter at the Winnipeg Winter club. In 1947, he won the British National skating top award, the gold medal for figure skating. He was also in 1948, British senior dance skating champion in England and represented Britain in the Olympics in Switzerland.

The Avro jetliner, Canadian-built jet airliner, attracted a crowd at New York’s International Airport after completing a 365 mile flight from Toronto in one hour. The 60 passenger plane resembles an ordinary plane except for the absence of propellers.

Barbara Ann Scott, 21-year-old Olympic figure skating champ and three time world champion, has signed a contract with the Ice Capades.

The Ottawa Miss will appear in the opening of the 1951 Ice Capades in Montreal.
