Local News: Mr. Pedan Wilson has installed a self-measuring gasolene pump which is one of the very latest devices for that purpose to be had.

W.J. Hayes’ big building on the busy corner is being rushed along with commendable progress and several prospective tenants are ready to step in as soon as the premises are ready for occupancy.

“Cupids and Calories”, the humourous play presented by the young ladies of the Methodist Church on Friday evening was favoured with a good attendance, despite unpleasant weather.

The program opened with instrumental selections by the Schwartz trio, while between the acts, piano duets were rendered by Mrs. J.M. Argue and Miss Dorothy Vickery and by the Misses Kathleen and Doris Hodgins. Recitations were also contributed by Mrs. Secil Sly.

Mr. Jas. E. Farrell, who had been a faithful employee of Lawn Bros. at Campbell’s Bay for the past eight years, has gone to Montreal to reside.

As a mark of appreciation, the firm presented Mr. Farrell with a handsome pipe before his departure.
Pending ratification by the shareholders, the Union Bank of Canada has been purchased by the Royal Bank.
