Local News: New Calumet Mines Ltd. and Pontiac Mine, Mill Workers Union reached a settlement in their 1950 wage schedule during the last few weeks. This new agreement now awaits signatures.
The Red Cross drive for funds in Shawville district closed two weeks ago and final returns have now been released showing that this district of Shawville, Clarendon and Bristol has raised a total of $522.

A bad bush fire swept the bush of Raymond Dagenais on the Otter Lake road four miles east of Campbell’s Bay last Sunday afternoon.
Although help came as soon as the fire was noticed, it burned to clearance. No damage was done to the buildings. The cause of the fire is unknown.
At an enjoyable banquet held in Stark’s Hall, Shawville Bowling Club brought its league schedule to a close and presented the various prizes to the winners.
The regular monthly meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of Pontiac Community Hospital was held last Tuesday afternoon with fourteen members present.
Mrs. R.P. Eades, the president, presided. There were thirty articles mended and twenty two new articles completed.
