Local News: Eight timber wolf pups were captured alive by Messrs. Joseph and James Gardiner some two miles from Chalk River Thursday morning last, when they dug up a den. Following tracks of the mother wolf they located it and while they were digging in, the mother wolf came out of the hole, jumped completely over James Gardiner who was standing in front of her, and took to the bush. The pups are of the timber wolf variety and the owners intend selling them alive rather than killing them and collecting bounty.
On Saturday evening, Mr. Sidney Morgan of Ottawa picked up Gilman and Thorp Brown while motoring along the Gatineau road a few miles west of Kazabazua village. The car was a closed sedan and in some manner the deadly gas from the exhaust entered the car and before they realized it, the fumes overcame the occupants so that they could not open the doors or windows. Morgan, however, apparently stopped the car but left the engine running and thus it was seen by several parties who passed by but did not stop to investigate. Among them was George Marks of Kazabazua, who passed by and thinking there was something strange about the matter after he reached home, returned with Dr. Sulley along with him. The men were quickly pulled out of the car and rushed to the farm house of Archie Wilson and later taken to the office of Dr. Sulley who worked all Sunday night to bring the men back to consciousness but without success.
