Local News: Packed houses rewarded the pupils of Shawville High School when they presented an excellent concert last Wednesday afternoon and evening in Shawville Theatre.

Frequent encores testified to the ability of the youthful participants who displayed talent to entertain in every item on the enjoyable program.

William Higgins of Portage du Fort was the winner of the 1950 Chevrolet sedan drawn last Thursday night at the Renfrew Lion’s Club bingo. The car was raffled by the Renfrew Curling Club.

Residents of Quyon and district attended a meeting at Flemings Hall to discuss plans for a community centre in Quyon.

Arnprior All Stars had a little too much for Ottawa Old Pros in a Lions Club benefit game at Arnprior last Thursday. The home club took a 12-6 victory before more than 500 fans.

Ron Foley netted two for the visitors with Bill Cowley, Syd Howe, Johnny Wilkinson and Frank Finnegan getting one a piece.

Don Hogan had three, O’Neill and Callaghan two and Barnes, Craig, Don and Doug Farmer and Thomson one each for Arnprior.

On Friday evening, the Shawville Rotary Club was given a talk on Chinchilla ranching by Mr. Alex Horner, a member of the club. Mr. Horner has himself won the highest honours for his own Chinchillas and spoke from a practical knowledge of the subject.
