What a show!: It was their night, from the large groups to the soloist and the smallest skaters, dancing with cute confusion that delighted the audience, Shawville Figure Skating Club put on their close-out bash for all to see at the Shawville arena.

The skaters performed to such musical styles as Dixie, Techno, Latin, 80s pop, African and Rock in front of a crowd of more than 400.

“All the kids did so well,” said Jill Landriault, one of the two figure skating coaches with the Shawville club.

Along with Rochelle Dagenais, the two choreographed all the dance routines for the evening.

The club president, Mary Hodgins, agreed with the coaches.

“Everybody skated so well tonight,” she said.

Alleyn and Cawood pays tribute to first municipal library with grand opening: The municipality of Alleyn and Cawood filled its new municipal building/library with politicians, citizens and an air of pride at its inauguration Thursday.

The municipality has been budgeting for the building since 1996.

A lot of involvement by a lot of people got it done,” said councillor Charlene Scharf.

Mayor Joseph Squitti, all smiles, couldn’t say enough good about those who had been involved in the process.

Federal M.P. Robert Bertrand was among those present to give felicitations, bringing with him a letter of congratulations from the prime minister of Canada.
