The concert given in Elliott’s Hall on Tuesday night last under the auspices of the County Orange Lodge for the benefit of the Canadian Patriotic Fund may be ranked as one of the best of the season.
Some of our young people who attended the concert at Bryson last week say the attendance was much in excess of the hall accommodation and that as a result, there was much confusion and an utter absence of order, despite all efforts to procure it. Owing to some irregularities in the municipal elections in Leslie, Judge Lavergne ordered a new election to be held there last week, the result of which, according to our Otter Lake correspondent, was to give the seat to Mr. N. Legault in place of Mr. Thos. Parker, who subsequently to the first election held, was appointed mayor and represented that municipality as such at the county council last Wednesday.
The jury in the Bois Franc murder case which was heard at Hull last week, rendered a verdict acquitting Jacques Boileau of the charge. Judge Lavergne in addressing the jury charged strongly against the prisoner. The verdict was received with surprise.
Mr. Alex McIntyre, one of the victims of the dynamite explosion at Wahnapitae, is progressing favourably. Another victim, Frank Bisson, has died, his being the third death.
