Local news: Dr. Beaudry, of the Provincial Board of Health, arrived in town on Monday to procure information relative to the small-pox cases in Clarendon, and also to give information and assistance in adopting the proper steps to arrest the further spread of the disease in this section.
Reports from Calumet Island on Wednesday last say that the smallpox epidemic is spreading, although the disease is of a very mild type. On the date mentioned six cases were known to exist.
The Westmeath Council by proclamation has ordered the vaccination of all persons residing within the municipality and has appointed Drs. Forbes and Graham to make a house to house visitation, at the expense of the township, to the end that the law may be complied with.
