Shawville Jersey Club news: Some of the activities of Shawville Jersey Club during the year were as follows: in June we had a barn meeting at the farm of Art and Opal Carson where Art and the boys had two classes of cows and one of calves in for the crowd to judge. Following the judging we had a strawberry short cake contest won by our president, Arnott Hynes.
Art cleared out his new garage and all were set for their dance. A good time was had by all.
At the annual Jersey picnic in Huntingdon, Que., the men and ladies of Shawville Jersey Club won the trophy in the judging competition.
At our annual meeting in January, we elected a new president, Don Horner and returned the secretary, William Reynolds.
Shawville Junior Pontiac’s defeat Deep River in first game of finals: The Shawville Juniors continued on in their winning way Friday night as they defeated the defending Upper Ottawa Valley Champions 8-3.
Shawville picked up 5 goals in the first two periods. In the third period, Shawville went on a scoring rampage by scoring three goals in thirty-eight seconds. Brian Allen picked up two of the goals with Don Mousseau, Lornie Pirie and Warnie Richardson assisting and Jack Griffin picked up the last goal.
