The Way We Were:

Local News: Nine hundred people from Shawville and district were entertained to a faultless display of skating in the local arena last Wednesday evening when the Minto Follies performed for the first time in Pontiac.

A versatile program was carried through without a hitch and many encores were necessary to satisfy the huge, thrilled crowd.

Standing room was at a premium in the rink and there were no vacant spaces on the benches arranged around the ice surface.

Outstanding among the lady skaters were Miss Olive Robinson of England, a former World Champion and Pierrette Paquin, long a member of the Minto Club, who turned in a faultless display to justify her recent successes in Canadian and U.S.A. championships.

A meeting of the Shawville and district branch of the Red Cross Society was held in Hynes Hall and arrangements made to hold the annual drive for funds for that deserving body from March 15.

Two rinks from Shawville Ladies Curling Club traveled to Pembroke last Saturday to play in the annual invitation bonspiel. They had a very successful day returning with several prizes.
