The Way We Were:

Bristol Auto Body expands to used cars: After 13 years of service, Bristol Auto Body on Bristol’s Front Road has expanded into used car sales. Cecil Hodgins, owner of Bristol Auto Body, said that selling used cars will be a benefit to his business.

“The demand is there for used cars so I thought that it would be good for my business,” said Hodgins. “We are also the only shop in Bristol so that is an advantage for us.”

He currently has about 20 used vehicles, which includes cars and trucks. All the vehicles are certified and and were built in the 90s. Prices range from $2,000 to $5,000, which Hodgins said is quite reasonable. Hodgins said that he has access to used parts, so any future repair on the used cars can be done by his body shop.

Besides selling used cars, Bristol Auto Shop also does radiator service, towing, body repairs and sells tires.

Shawville resident wins gold medals at invitational: The highest-level skater to ever come out of Shawville won two gold medals at the first-ever Shawville Winter Invitational figure skating competition on Saturday.

Sarah Hodgins, 14, won the gold medals for the junior silver ladies “A” event and the theatrical senior event.

Sarah, daughter of Mary and Paul Hodgins of Clarendon, started skating at the age of four and has been a dedicated figure skater since.

She said that she would like to make a career in figure skating.

“I would like to see how far I can go competitively,” she said. “If I don’t skate professionally, then I would like to coach figure skating.”

She currently belongs to the Minto Skating Club in Ottawa, which has produced many Olympians, such as Donald Jackson and Julie Ménard.

She hopes that the Minto club will teach her to become a better skater and will further her aspirations to become a professional figure skater.
