The Way We Were:

Local News: Parties having in their possession pails belonging to the village fire department are requested to return the same at once to W.J. Eades.

The Agricultural Community meeting in Wilson’s hall under the auspices of the Women’s Institutes and C.P.A.S. No. 1 was a complete success. Dr. Powles, president of the society, briefly explained that the object of the meeting was to arouse greater interest in community work.

The Ottawa River Power Co. has arranged with the Pontiac R. Tel. Co. to use the poles of the latter to form part of a direct telephone line from the power house to Shawville central, in order to facilitate communication with Ottawa over the Bell line. The work of stretching the wires was begun here last Wednesday, the gang on the job proceeding westerly.

Mrs. S. Chamberlain desires to inform the ladies of Shawville and vicinity that her milliner has returned from Montreal after attending the Millinery openings and has brought with her all the new styles.
