Local News: A shooting occurred at a square dance outside the home of Joseph Frost about one mile from Fort Coulonge at 10:30 p.m.

That morning, the wedding of his son, also of that district had been celebrated and a platform dance in their honour was in progress when a loud noise was heard and Mrs. Reginald Pare was seen to be injured.

A call was immediately made to the provincial police and within a short time, Traffic Officer Lindon Young and Detective J.L. Muir arrived at the scene. Mrs. Pare was treated by Dr. H. Rabb and thence taken to Shawville and admitted to hospital where she was treated by Dr. S.E. McDowell.

A number of those present claim that the shooting was done by a man clad in a brown suit who stood on the edge of the crowd and who immediately disappeared into the darkness.

Popular supposition in the district is that the shot was intended for the bride, since she was beside Mrs. Pare.

Tupper have been successful as follows: Myrna Cotie, elementary plan (distinction) with 82 marks; Joan Taggart, elementary piano, (distinction) with 85 marks; Barbara Smith, junior piano (distinction) with 80 marks; Doris Jacques, junior piano (distinction) 81 marks and junior theory (distinction) 80 marks; Anna Faye Stickler, senior piano (honours) with 72 marks.
