Local News: Those who attended, and there was a very good audience, were unanimous in according a liberal measure of praise to the girls of St. Paul’s W.A. for their excellent presentation of the play “The Call of the Cherry Blossoms,” featured at the Exhibition Hall on Friday evening last. The cast was well sustained in the several roles impersonated and all the girls took their respective parts exceptionally well. Instrumental selections were given by Misses Imison and Hodgins and the Schwartz trio.
Mr. and Mrs. Hollie J. Corrigan, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., motored to Shawville last week, coming by way of the Mattawa-Pembroke highway, which Hollie says is in fairly good shape, better than the average road in Pontiac.
Members of the local I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges attended the annual service and decoration ceremonies of the Renfrew Lodges on Sunday afternoon. A heavy rainfall somewhat marred the proceedings.

The province of Nova Scotia, which has been wedded to the idol of Liberalism in provincial matters for the past 43 years, last Thursday broke the spell which had thus held it in bondage for a period much too long, by turning out the Liberal government of Hon. E. H. Armstrong and its supporters, bag and baggage.
Only three Liberals survived the battle. The Conservatives, led by Hon. E.N. Phodes carried 40 seats and a number with very large majorities.
