The Way We Were:

Local News: In the United Churches on Sunday in Shawville, Bristol and Clarendon and to interested citizens during the week, petitions were presented for signatures protesting the suggested lottery act at present being suggested by the premier of Quebec. The ministers of these churches spoke strongly against the measure suggested as injurious to morals of the province and injurious to the character of youth.

The C.G.I.T. girls met in Sunday school of United Church in Shawville on Wednesday with 29 girls present with their leaders.

“It was a great game” were the words the fans were saying as they left the arena Wednesday night after an exhibition of hockey in the regular Upper Ottawa league that had the 400 spectators on their toes, especially during the third and over-time periods.

This was an important game. Before it, Shawville was one point below Renfrew in the league with nine points, but now it is eleven, with Renfrew ten and Pembroke nine and Arnprior somewhere in the cellar.
