Local News: Curling activities for the winter season finally started on Monday evening with three games between local rinks.
Pembroke Juniors moved to within one point of the league leading Shawville club last Wednesday when they chalked up a 6-2 victory in an important Upper Ottawa loop game. Leo Devine was a casualty of the match when he suffered a serious injury to his mouth in the second period.
Shawville Juniors strengthened their hold on second place in the Upper Ottawa Valley Junior Hockey League when they downed the Arnprior Green Shirts 8-2 there Saturday night.
With an estimated 250 to 300 persons present in the local theatre on Sunday evening, the second week of an inter-church revival campaign got underway, making in all, the commencement of three weeks of continuous nightly meetings. It has been gratifying to note representative members of every local church present in the congregations.
The Bristol Busy Bees held their regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Wilmer Hodgins on Thursday, with 19 members and 4 visitors answering the roll call. The programme was in charge of Mrs. Earl Findlay, the secretary who gave a very interesting paper on the “Peace Garden”, also had a contest, Mrs. Roy MacFarlane being the prize winner.
