Local News: More than 500 attendees were treated to a smart display of 1950 styles for ladies in the presentation of Bryson’s first fashion show. Complete in every detail, the show gave a preview of 1950 gowns. All models were Pontiac girls who carried themselves as professionals while they walked across the decorated stage.
The feature showing of the evening was by Miss Audrey Burns of Portage du Fort, displaying the latest in bridal wear and a beautifully gowned 1950 bride represented by Miss Laura Hobbs of Bryson. Little Connie Towell of Bryson carried the bouquet. All gowns were courtesy of Doran’s Ladies Wear of Pembroke.
The newly-organized Farm Forum was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin McKee on Monday night. The forum consists of nine members and their families: Sam Knox; George Angus; Peter Moyles; Lionel Grimes; Sherwood Grant; Russell Woods; Billy Orr; Merlin McKee and Kenneth Dumas.
A squad of heavier, harder checking Renfrew Juniors spotted their Shawville opponents an early first period goal but took over from there to rack up an impressive 9-2 victory.
Sparked by Buddy McKay’s four-goal effort, Shawville Juniors turned back Pembroke by 11-6 in an Upper Ottawa Valley Junior Hockey League game played in Shawville on Wednesday evening. Martin and Powell scored twice for the home squad, while Carson, Hobbs and Devine brought the total to eleven.
