Local News: A combination entertainment, combining valentine dance, euchre party and box social was held in Bryson on Feb. 14th for the benefit of the Protestant School. Over $100 was realized.
A meeting of citizens and other interested parties was held in Hynes Hall Friday night to discuss the question of providing a proper place of public accommodation for the village.
The second hockey match between the local “Flappers” and “Sissies” was staged at the rink on Friday evening and although a much better brand of hockey was dished up, the result was about the same as the previous game, Flappers 6; Sissies 2.
A tramp has been causing some uneasiness among the women folk out around Yarm and vicinity. Constable Wm. Elliott gathered him in on Friday. The man was carrying a 44 rifle and is said to have been rather peremptory in his demands for food etc., wherever he called.
Mr. H. Holam who was a candidate for the mayoralty in the Campbell’s Bay election is protesting the election of Mr. Ed. Lawn, who won out in a somewhat lively contest.
The Bryson bridge is undergoing repairs just now and has been closed to traffic for some days.
The second annual banquet to the men of the congregation of St. Paul’s Church by the ladies of the Guild was held on Wednesday evening last in the Guild room of the church and whilst the attendance was not quite up to last year’s figure, the place was comfortably filled and a very pleasant evening was spent, beginning with the serving of a most delectable supper which all enjoyed to the full. Following came a varied program which included a short toast list, community singing and a portion of a radio concert broadcast from Ottawa.
