The Way We Were:

Local News: Shawville defeated Arnprior 5-1 in an Upper Ottawa Valley Junior Hockey league played at Shawville arena. That win enabled Shawville to finish in second place tie with Pembroke.

A very successful cooking school was held at Quyon last week by the Quyon Women’s Institute. The school was in charge of Mrs. L. Ballantyne of Toronto, assisted by Ethel Breen.

Easy methods for making many baked products were demonstrated including new salmon ring recipe, quickpie pastry method and bread making.Twenty-five bags of groceries were among prizes given away.

In spite of hazardous road conditions in rural areas, the Pontiac Farm Forums met as usual on Monday to listen to a broadcast from Niagara where the Canadian Federation of Agriculture of the broadcast was a talk by the Hon. Jas. Gardiner, Minister of Agriculture.

Many of the forums reported a discussion of the broadcast and Clarendon No. 5 and Yarm reported poor radio reception.
