Shawville 4-H banquet: The Shawville 4-H Club held its annual banquet and trophy night at the United Church Hall. There were 175 in attendance.
The evening opened with a welcome by president Carol Lang. Paul Hodgins proposed a toast to the ladies with Lori Hodgins replying.
After the meal was served, Charles Pirie thanked the U.C.W. for the delicious meal which they prepared.
The trophies were presented to the winners. Carol Lang introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Rudi Dallenbach who is the farm manager at the Macdonald College Farm.
Terry MacDougall thanked Mr. Dallenbach for his talk and then presented a small gift on behalf of the club.
Danford Lake Carnival: The Danford Lake Carnival kicked off with entertainment Friday night at the hotel as five-year-old Cindy McCambley, Stuart McLaughlin, Barry McLaughlin, Stacy Molyneaux, Timmy Larocque, Randy Peck, Wendy Waddell, Kelly Wilson, Nancy Peck and Lise Gravelle displayed their talents singing and dancing.
Saturday morning opened with Farrelton Peewees playing Danford, followed by a mosquito hockey game between Venosta and Danford.
A broomball game between Wakefield and Danford followed with Danford claiming a 3-0 victory.
The tug of war had to be called off when the ladies displayed too much muscle and broke the rope.
