The Way We Were:

Local News: The old-time January thaw that people in our grandfathers’ day looked forward to with certainty and were rarely out in their calculations, had nothing on the article which the usually blustery month of February contributed to the discomfiture of the residents of a large portion of Eastern Canada. The two points in question, it is understood, are Chats Falls, 25 miles from Ottawa and at Rocher Fendu, near Calumet Island. There are no engineering difficulties and the power could be developed economically.

The Maple Leaf Milling Company and another millling company have received a cash order from Russia for 1,300,000 barrels of flour, the largest order ever given at one time on this continent.
