The Way We Were:

A little of this and that: Mammoth on the job . . . A huge rotary plow, purchased by farmers of Stark’s Corners, which will blast snow drifts as high as itself—six feet.

There’s a reason . . . If you meet Peden Wilson on the street and he doesn’t answer you if spoken to its because he’s “afraid” to open his mouth; in the cold weather, that is, because of neuralgia in his gums.

Red faces . . . On a local telephone operator and her landlady when a young man telephoned the other night. The landlady shouted to the young girl “It’s your boyfriend”. But she was sitting in the front room with her boyfriend.

Bristol Veteran now flying officer: Sergeant-Pilot H. R. Glenn, age 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Glenn, Bristol, Que., has recently been promoted to the rank of Flying Officer in the R.C.A.F. Reserve. He has been selected to take part in the R.C.A.F. Reserve Pilot Training Program, “Operation Chipmunk”. The program will be carried out at Civilian Flying Clubs across Canada and in the event of an emergency (war) arising these pilots will form the nucleus of instructors. FO Glenn will take his flying at the Thunder Bay Flying Club, Fort William Airport. He served in Canada with the R.C.A.F and overseas with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. At present he is with the Ontario Provincial Police stationed at Port Arthur.
