The Way We Were:

Local News: Shawville Lions Club staged a bingo in the theatre last Thursday evening when a crowd of over two hundred and fifty persons competed for the many valuable prizes which were offered. Proceeds from the evenings entertainment will be used to defray expenses of the children’s parties which are to be given to local children during this week.

The most attractive prize of the many being presented was a radio which was won by Mr. Sparling of Shawville. An automatic toaster which was also eagerly played for, was won by Mrs. G. Yach of Ladysmith.
UEFB streamlines food shipments as more than 35,000 parcels are sent to Great Britain in the pre-Christmas rush. There has been a heavy influx of CANAID orders for which labels are sorted, typed and then air-mailed to London where CANAID parcels are stocked for immediate delivery.

Shawville Juniors started the season in sterling manner on Saturday when, in their first game, they defeated a vastly improved Arnprior team by the odd goal in five.
